"genune" meaning in Romanian

See genune in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

Etymology: Probably from Latin caerula (“pertaining to the sea”) (likely through an initial early Romanian form *cerure or *cerură, which underwent changes due to dissimilation and other processes, perhaps derhotacization; see some of the above dialectal or archaic alternative forms such as gerure, which were more conservative in pronunciation); some variants possibly derive from the form caerulea. Another theory instead suggests a Vulgar Latin root *girōnem / gyrōnem, from *gyrō (“whirlpool”), presumably stemming ultimately from Ancient Greek γῦρος (gûros).
