Adjective [Latvian]

IPA: [muôʃ] Audio: lv-riga-možs.ogg
Etymology: From the same stem as verb most (“to wake up”) (< *muod-ti), made into an u-stem adjective *muod-us; when u-stem adjectives were lost, a parallel yo-stem *modyas took its place, leading to možs via palatalization (dy > ž). A parallel form with an extra -r (*muod-ra-s) yielded modrs (q.v.).
