The name combines two of the specifically Dutch spellings found only in the area between Krefeld and Kleve, namely -oe- for /uː/ and -uy- for /yː/. Elsewhere in North-Rhine Westphalia -oe- represents /oː/ (or less often /øː/) and -ui- is used for /yː/.
