Etymology: From Persian نازک (nâzok, nâzak). According to Nisanyan the transformation of the final vowel from /u/ or /y/ to /i/ occurred in the 13th century. This form is found in nearly all Turkic borrowings of the word including the more Persianized languages such as Uzbek nozik and Azerbaijani nazik. See Persian نازک for the list of borrowings.
