"rón" meaning in Old Irish

See rón in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

IPA: [r͈oːn]
Etymology: Unknown. Cognate with Welsh moelrhon (“seal”), which is prefixed with moel (“bald", i.e., "earless”), and Welsh Rhonech, "Steep Holm" (i.e., "place of seals"). Stifter dismisses traditional connections with Welsh rhawn (“coarse animal hair”) as implausible, and supposes that it is instead a Wanderwort from elsewhere. The DIL compares Old English hran (“whale”), but the short vowel of the latter makes it unlikely that the Irish word is borrowed from the English.
