Etymology: Zbigniew Gołąb reconstructed Proto-Slavic *srьdobořa, from *sьrdьce (“heart”) + *-bořa from Proto-Indo-European *bʰer- (“to bear, carry”). Alternatively, the second part is derived from Bulgar, see болꙗринъ (boljarinŭ).
