  "etymology_text": "The word was borrowed many times from Iranian, from its different dialects and over different periods. According to Pʿerixanyan, the most common spelling, սպարապետ (sparapet), is from Parthian; compare Parthian 𐭎𐭐𐭀𐭃𐭐𐭕𐭉 (spʾdpty), Parthian 𐫙𐫘𐫛𐫀𐫅 (ʿspʾd /⁠ispāδ⁠/). The less common form սպայապետ (spayapet) was borrowed later from Middle Persian, or, perhaps formed in Armenian from սպայ (spay) and պետ (pet); note also Old Georgian სპაჲპეტი (sṗayṗeṭi). The spelling ասպարապետ (asparapet) is from early Middle Median *aspāδapat(i); the spelling ասպահապետ (aspahapet) is from later Middle Median *aspāhapet. All originate from Proto-Iranian *spādapati- (“commander of the army”), composed of *cwáHdaH (“army”), whence սպայ (spay), and *pati- (“lord”), whence պետ (pet). Compare also Middle Persian 𐭮𐭯𐭠𐭧𐭯𐭲𐭩 (spāhpet).",
