"hainnfenn" meaning in Norwegian Nynorsk

Noun

IPA: /hɑɲfɛɲ/ Forms: hainnfennet [definite, singular], hainnfenn [indefinite, plural], hainnfenna [definite, plural], hainnfeinn [alternative], handfenn [alternative]
Etymology: The first part is probably from Old Norse hǫnd. Alternatively, from and-, contaminated by hand (compare dialectal forms of ambod getting a h-sound). Note that the term ambod itself can be in some areas of Norway humorously used referring to cutlery as well, but it still doesn't explain the etymology of the -fenn-ending. Etymology templates: {{inh|nn|non|hǫnd}} Old Norse hǫnd
  1. (dialectal, Trøndelag dialect) cutlery Tags: dialectal, neuter Synonyms: bestikk
