Etymology: Cognate with Icelandic góa. As a period after February, known at least from South-Western Trøndelag. In other places may be intermixed with Thorri. Attested as Giøe by Jacob Nicolai Wilse in 1780 in his dictionary of Spydeberg dialect, referring to a period in January.
