Proper name [German]

IPA: /ˈleːvərˌkuːzən/, [ˈleː.vɐˌkuː.zn̩], /ˈlɛvər-/, [ˈlɛ.vɐ-] Audio: De-Leverkusen.ogg Forms: Leverkusens [genitive], Leverkusen [genitive, with-article]
Etymology: Named after the hamlet Leverkusen near Remscheid, the family estate of chemical industrialist Carl Leverkus (1804–1889), whose factory caused the development of the city, which lies some 25 km to the south-west.
