Noun [German]

IPA: /ˈjʊxtən/, [ˈjʊx.tn̩], [ˈjʊχ-], [-tən] Audio: De-juchten.ogg Forms: Juchtens [genitive], strong [table-tags], Juchten [definite, nominative, singular], Juchtens [genitive, singular], Juchten [dative, singular], Juchten [accusative, definite, singular]
Etymology: 17th century, borrowed from Middle Low German *juchten, juften (16th c.), from Russian юфть (juftʹ), also юхть (juxtʹ), which see for more. The ch-form follows the Russian variant with х, but was likely reinforced by the native Low German variation between -ft- and -cht-. Similarly, the final -en can be due to the Russian adjective юфтяной (juftjanoj, “of yuft”) and/or the Germanic suffix -en (“made of”); compare juchten.
