Johanson, from Proto-Turkic *yakšï, ultimately a derivation from Proto-Turkic *yak- (“good”), whence Turkish yakış- (“to look good”). Doublet of yakışık.\nOne of the Turkic-derived words (such as od, kara displaced whole and in part respectively by Persian-derived ateş and siyah) that are fully or partially dated in the standard language and most dialects since early 20th century.",
