Phrygian *kubela probably meant “mountain; mountain horse”, a kind of Asia Minor cultural calque; compare “horse” in Hittite 𒀲𒆳𒊏𒍑 (ANŠE.KUR.RA-us /*ekkus/) literally “mountain donkeys” < 𒀲 (anše, “donkey; equid”) + 𒆳𒊏 (kur-ra /kurak/, “of the mountain”). Thracian and Phrygian have different vowels of the suffix (*-ula : *-ela) and the root < *kaub- : *kub-.\nCognate with Ancient Greek κᾰβᾰ́λλης (kabállēs, “nag”), Latin caballus (“pack-horse”), Proto-Celtic *kaballos (“horse”) and Swabian Kōb (“nag”).", "forms": [ { "form": "kobỳla", "tags": [ "canonical", "feminine" ] }, { "form": "no-table-tags", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "table-tags" ] }, { "form": "sla-decl-noun", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "inflection-template" ] }, { "form": "a-stem", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "class" ] }, { "form": "a", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "accent-paradigm" ] }, { "form": "kobỳla", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "nominative", "singular" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlě", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dual", "nominative" ] }, { "form": "kobỳly", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "nominative", "plural" ] }, { "form": "kobỳly", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "genitive", "singular" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlu", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dual", "genitive" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlъ", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "genitive", "plural" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlě", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dative", "singular" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlama", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dative", "dual" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlamъ", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dative", "plural" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlǫ", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "accusative", "singular" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlě", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "accusative", "dual" ] }, { "form": "kobỳly", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "accusative", "plural" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlojǫ", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "instrumental", "singular" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlǭ", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "instrumental", "singular" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlama", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dual", "instrumental" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlamī", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "instrumental", "plural" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlě", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "locative", "singular" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlu", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dual", "locative" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlasъ", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "locative", "plural" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlaxъ", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "locative", "plural" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlo", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "singular", "vocative" ] }, { "form": "kobỳlě", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "dual", "vocative" ] }, { "form": "kobỳly", "source": "declension", "tags": [ "plural", "vocative" ] } ], "inflection_templates": [ { "args": { "1": "kobỳla", "ap": "a" }, "name": "sla-decl-noun" } ], "lang": "Proto-Slavic", "lang_code": "sla-pro", "original_title": "Reconstruction:Proto-Slavic/kobyla", "pos": "noun", "senses": [ { "categories": [ "sla-pro:Female animals", "sla-pro:Horses" ], "glosses": [ "mare (female horse)" ], "links": [ [ "mare", "mare" ] ], "tags": [ "reconstruction" ] }, { "glosses": [ "implements or things that look like a horse" ], "links": [ [ "horse", "horse" ] ], "tags": [ "reconstruction" ] } ], "wikipedia": [ "Cabyle", "Cybele", "Oleg Trubachyov", "uk:Мельничук Олександр Савич" ], "word": "kobyla" }
