"soo" meaning in Proto-Finnic

See soo in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

Etymology: Unknown: * Possibly an irregular reflex of Proto-Uralic *towe (“lake”), from which the shape **too would be predicted. The development *t > *s could have been motivated by avoidance of homonymy with the pronoun *too; but compare also *sulka (“feather”) < Proto-Uralic *tulka. * Alternatively possibly an early borrowing from Pre-Germanic *soygʷ-ó-/*soygʷ-í-. * The word could be in some relationship to Proto-Samic *suońō (“swamp”), yet here the contraction to a monosyllable would be irregular.
