"sarana" meaning in Proto-Finnic

See sarana in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

Etymology: Origin disputed. Two etymologies have been presented, both with phonetic difficulties: * Akin to Komi-Zyrian дзир (dźir, “hinge”), Udmurt ӟиры (dźiry, “hinge”) and dialectal Hungarian csir (“bolt in a hinge”), thus from Proto-Finno-Ugric. * By metathesis from earlier *sanara, borrowed from Baltic (compare Lithuanian sąnaras (“hinge”), sąnarys (“joint”)). Etymology templates: {{cog|kpv|дзир||hinge}} Komi-Zyrian дзир (dźir, “hinge”), {{cog|udm|ӟиры||hinge}} Udmurt ӟиры (dźiry, “hinge”), {{cog|hu|csir||bolt in a hinge}} Hungarian csir (“bolt in a hinge”), {{inh|urj-fin-pro|fiu-pro|-}} Proto-Finno-Ugric, {{bor|urj-fin-pro|bat}} Baltic, {{cog|lt|sąnaras||hinge}} Lithuanian sąnaras (“hinge”)
