"bāregos" meaning in Proto-Celtic

Noun

Etymology: Either from *bā-rigos (“cow-tying”) (*bāus + *rigos) as theorized by Hamp, or from a Proto-Indo-European compound *bʰeh₂-h₃reǵos (“light-extending”), from *bʰeh₂- (“to shine”) and *h₃reǵ- (“to straighten”), as theorized by Matasovic who rejects Hamp's theory as semantically far-fetched. If the latter theory is correct, then *bāregos was originally an adjective that referred to dawn.
