"english": "It has been narrated that during the rule of Yazid (upon him be whatever may be upon him), he was gathering an army to go to war with Imam Husayn (peace be upon him). He was dispatching his nobles to all corners of the country, calling upon all the swordsmen, and promising posts and governorships. Among those [who were going to be called up] was Mukhtar ibn Abi Ubayd al-Thaqafi, who was a valiant swordsman whom the people believed in the courage of. Thus, when Yazid listed the provisions necessary for the expedition and the names of the leaders of the contingents, Mukhtar's name was written down as the one responsible for leading a contingent of Kufans to war against Imam Husayn (peace be upon him). One day, while Yazid's deputies were being dispatched to the frontiers, Mukhtar was standing on the roof of his house. His wife said to him: \"O' Mukhtar, you have got close to the edge of the roof. Go back so that you do not fall.\" At this moment, Mukhtar recalled the saying of the Holy Prophet ordering: شَاوِرُهُنَّ وَخَالِفُهُنَّ (šāwiruhunna waḵālifuhunna, “When you consult women, do the opposite [of what they recommend]”). Thus, Mukhtar instead went forward, and, as fate would have it, the edge of the roof had been washed by rain. As a result, Mukhtar's foot slipped forward and he fell from the roof, breaking his leg. Three days after this incident took place, Yazid's deputies arrived in Kufa and went to Mukhtar's house. They presented the list of the leaders of the contingents to Mukhtar and said: \"You have been ordered to go to war against Imam Husayn with the people of Kufa!\" Mukhtar responded: \"Oh dear ones! You can see that my leg has been broken, and I would otherwise obey the order.\" When the deputies of Yazid saw Mukhtar with a broken leg, they left and told Yazid what had happened. Yazid declared: \"There is no blame upon Mukhtar in this situation.\" This would not have taken place this way were it not for the blessing of the Holy Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, for, had his leg not been broken, he would have certainly been compelled to agree to go fight against Imam Husayn.",
