"Pitrõg" meaning in Livonian

See Pitrõg in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Proper name

IPA: /pitrəɡ/
Etymology: Historically Pudteraggen – Latvian Pitrags, Livonian Pitrõg. According to V. Kiprasky this term might be a compound of põddõrz (“moose, elk”) + aigā (“coast, edge”) and ⟨u⟩ in 16th century writing could reflect Latvian pronunciation of the term. In Livonian itself a shift õ > ü > i could have taken place. This is not without problems, however, as such a shift has taken place in the western dialect of Livonian, however, Pitrags is located within the area of the eastern dialect.
