"disway" meaning in English

See disway in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Verb

Forms: disways [present, singular, third-person], diswaying [participle, present], diswayed [participle, past], diswayed [past]
Etymology: Synchronically validly portrayable as either (1) by surface analysis, di- + sway, in direct morphologic parallel with dissuade, or (2) an eggcorn of dissuade; diachronically perhaps now unknowable (as to which of those was the word's historical origin). It is true that (1) dissuade is the much more common word, and (2) disway is not entered in most major dictionaries; and these facts may lend support to the idea that the eggcorn idea is likelier diachronically, and certainly to the idea that most lexicographers consider it likelier. 1. Synonym of dissuade Synonyms: dissuade [synonym, synonym-of]
