Schmidt. Jip and Janneke are the two protagonists in this series. The term was coined in March 2002 by Bas Eenhoorn, chairman of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, who asked party leader Hans Dijkstal to use simpler words to explain the party manifesto to the voters. It has been added to Van Dale's dictionary in 2005.",
