"τόπαζος" meaning in Ancient Greek

See τόπαζος in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

IPA: /tó.paz.dos/, /ˈto.pa.zos/, /ˈto.pa.zos/, /tó.paz.dos/ (note: 5ᵗʰ BCE Attic), /ˈto.pa.zos/ (note: 1ˢᵗ CE Egyptian), /ˈto.pa.zos/ (note: 4ᵗʰ CE Koine), /ˈto.pa.zos/ (note: 10ᵗʰ CE Byzantine), /ˈto.pa.zos/ (note: 15ᵗʰ CE Constantinopolitan)
Etymology: A loanword which, according to Pliny, was taken from the language of the Troglodytes, and named after an island of the same name in the Red Sea. However, according to Furnée, the existence of the gloss ταβάσιος (tabásios, “kind of stone”) proves a Pre-Greek origin of the word. Also compare Sanskrit तपस् (tapas, “fire, heat”).
