"κελεός" meaning in Ancient Greek

See κελεός in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

IPA: /ke.le.ós/, /ce.leˈos/, /ce.leˈos/, /ke.le.ós/ (note: 5ᵗʰ BCE Attic), /ke.leˈos/ (note: 1ˢᵗ CE Egyptian), /ce.leˈos/ (note: 4ᵗʰ CE Koine), /ce.leˈos/ (note: 10ᵗʰ CE Byzantine), /ce.leˈos/ (note: 15ᵗʰ CE Constantinopolitan)
Etymology: Perhaps it belongs to κολάπτω (koláptō, “to peck”), κόλος (kólos, “docked, hornless”), together with κελοί (keloí, “chopper, cutter”). Bechtel connected Lithuanian kùlti (“to thresh”), but according to Huber the alternative forms are a sign of foreign origin. It is probable that these variations are due to Pre-Greek origin.
