Noun [Albanian]

Forms: hoje [plural], hualli [definite], hojet [definite, plural]
Etymology: Two possible etymologies: * from Proto-Albanian *xāljā, from earlier *ksān and suffix -jā, from pre-Albanian *s-keh₂n, metathesis of Proto-Indo-European *kh₂en, oblique of *kóh₂r̥ (“wax”) (compare Greek κηρός (kirós), Lithuanian korỹs (“id”)). The change of *n to l is irregular. * from Proto-Albanian *skāla, further related to hollë (see there for more), although admittedly very difficult to reconcile semantically. Etymology templates: {{inh|sq|sqj-pro|*xāljā}} Proto-Albanian *xāljā, {{der|sq|ine-pro|*kh₂en}} Proto-Indo-European *kh₂en, {{cog|el|κηρός}} Greek κηρός (kirós), {{cog|lt|korỹs||id}} Lithuanian korỹs (“id”), {{inh|sq|sqj-pro|*skāla}} Proto-Albanian *skāla Head templates: {{head|sq|noun|cat2=masculine nouns|g=m|head=|sort=}} huall m, {{sq-noun|m|hoje|hualli|hojet}} huall m (plural hoje, definite hualli, definite plural hojet)
