Noun [Alemannic German]

Etymology: Unknown. Possibly from an earlier form Ghuder, Gehuder (“deplorable clothes”), possibly related to German Kutten. Alternatively possibly related to Gehudel (“sloppiness, haste”) from huddle (“to do sloppily and in a rush”), cognate with German Gehudel. Alternatively possibly related to Gehäder (“messy knots, entanglement, mess, complication”), see also German verheddern. Alternatively possibly inherited from Middle High German kūder (“tow (shaved-off fibers from working flax or hemp)”), which might be related to the first part of German Kauderwelsch, which has been suggested to be etymologically related to Chur.
