Noun [Middle Korean]

IPA: /t͡sɨ̌z/, [t͡sɨ̌s̚] Forms: 즈ᇫ〯 [canonical], cǔz [romanization], 즈〯ᅀᅦ〮 [locative]
Etymology: From Old Korean 皃 (*CUS), attested together with a nominative case marker as 皃史 (*CUs-i) in Ujeok-ga and Mojukjirang-ga and also in Idu texts. The nature of Old Korean orthography, where only the final coda consonant of a noun is written phonetically, means that the only thing that can said about the Old Korean form is that its coda consonant was *-s.
