Adjective [Georgian]

IPA: [pʼiɾʷeli] Forms: ṗirveli [romanization]
Etymology: Possibly by suffixing Proto-Kartvelian *ṗir- (“mouth, face; forward-facing”) with the word-forming affix *-el. Cf. პირი (ṗiri, “face”), პირდაპირ (ṗirdaṗir, “opposite; straight ahead”). Typologically compare Old Armenian առաջին (aṙaǰin, “first”) deriving from առաջ (aṙaǰ, “front part; front, anterior”). Surprisingly similar with Proto-Slavic *pьrvъ and other IE words for «first», descended from Proto-Indo-European *per(in front).
