"електрохарчування" meaning in Ukrainian

Noun

IPA: [eɫektrɔxɐrt͡ʃʊˈʋanʲːɐ]
Etymology: From електро- (elektro-, “electro-”) + харчува́ння (xarčuvánnja, “nutrition, nourishment”). Mistranslation of Russian электропита́ние (elektropitánije, “power supply”), instead of correct Ukrainian електрожи́влення (elektrožývlennja). First appeared in 2018 as a mockery of Russian trolls, who clumsily pretended to be Ukrainians on social networks and were exposed due to absurd errors, through the use of incorrect translators. The word became popular as a meme after October 2022 with the start of Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and another failed attempt by Russians to impersonate Ukrainians online by announcing a “flash mob” with the hashtag #LightOnZelenskyyOff to stir up popular anger against the Ukrainian government.
