"Marruecos" meaning in Old Spanish

See Marruecos in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Proper name

IPA: /maˈru͡ekos/
Etymology: From Arabic مَرَّاكُش (marrākuš). First documented in the Cid. The Arabic form was adapted into local Romance in a shape like /maˈrɔkos/, with /ɔ/ rendering an Arabic [ɒː] or similar (cf. Old Catalan Marrocs, Old Galician-Portuguese Marrocos). It seems once the form reached Castille it was “translated” into /maˈru͡ekos/ according to the cross-dialectal correspondence /ɔ/ ⇔ /u͡e/ (as in Portuguese forte ⇔ Spanish fuerte).
