Etymology: According to Ačaṙyan, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰeh₃g-, whence also dialectal բոկ (bok, “burnt khoriz (a filling that consists of flour, butter and sugar)”). He also compares Udi бокӏи (boḳi, “burnt; burnt bread”), бокӏсун (boḳsun, “to burn”), but concludes that either the similarity is accidental or they are borrowed from Armenian.
