Noun

Forms: azfar əl tip [romanization]
Etymology: From Arabic أَظْفَار الطِيب (ʔaẓfār aṭ-ṭīb). The same has been corrupted in medieval dictionaries to աթոր, աշտիպ (atʻor, aštip), աթոր ալ տիպ (atʻor al tip), ադոր ալ տիպ (ador al tip), ուփար ալ տիպ (upʻar al tip), ափարալտիկ (apʻaraltik), ադփար ալ տիպ (adpʻar al tip), եդփարաշտիփ (edpʻaraštipʻ), ադպարտիք (adpartikʻ), աթպարիտիկ (atʻparitik), աթպարտիկ (atʻpartik), աթփարտիկ (atʻpʻartik), առփարտիկ (aṙpʻartik). The ghost word աշտիպ (aštip, “a kind of cereal grain”) was back-formed from the աթոր, աշտիպ (atʻor, aštip) pair, wherein աշտիպ (aštip) was understood as the gloss of աթոր (atʻor), i.e. Latin ador.
