"Baħar l-Aħmar" meaning in Maltese

Proper name

Forms: il-Baħar l-Aħmar [canonical, masculine]
Etymology: Probably a loan translation of Italian Mar Rosso. Inheritance from Arabic الْبَحْر الْأَحْمَر (al-baḥr al-ʔaḥmar) cannot be ruled out entirely, but is very unlikely in light of the fact that Maltese has inherited virtually no geographical names from outside Malta at all.
