"Léck" meaning in Luxembourgish

Proper name

IPA: /lek/
Etymology: Perhaps from Limburgish Luuk or an older pronunciation of Dutch Luik. Compare dated Central Franconian Lück, Lick. Old inheritance should have yielded *Liddech or *Leidech as in German Lüttich. There surely resided a lot of Dutch-speaking persons at Liège and it is plausible that the more eastern and southern areas might have adopted the name of the city from these fellow Germanic-speakers rather than the Romance population.
