"koja" meaning in Lithuanian

Noun

IPA: /ˈkoːjɛ/
Etymology: Cognate with Latvian kāja, with further origin outside Baltic uncertain. Has been tentatively derived from Proto-Indo-European *ke(n)h₁- (“to dig”) (whence Proto-Indo-Iranian *kanH- (“to dig, destroy”)); if so, then the sense development could have been something like "hoof (a digging limb)" > "animal leg" > "(human) leg". Older theories suppose a derivation from Proto-Indo-European *key(h₂)- (“to start to move”), and compare Latin cieō (“to set in motion”); however, this root is generally reconstructed with a *ḱ, which cannot produce the Baltic forms.
