"kedėti" meaning in Lithuanian

See kedėti in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Verb

Forms: kedė́ti [canonical], kẽda [present, third-person], kedė́jo [past, third-person]
Etymology: Probably from Proto-Indo-European *(s)kedh₂- (“to split, scatter”); Smoczynski compares Ancient Greek σκεδάννυμι (skedánnumi, “to scatter, disperse”) and Albanian çaj (“to split, cleave”). However, Beekes rejects the cognacy with the Greek, due to the semantic links being tenuous. That said, Beekes appears to claim so based on kedė́ti being cognate with kedìnti (“to tug, pluck”), which does not necessarily invalidate Smoczynski's derivation.
