"ოხორჯა" meaning in Laz

See ოხორჯა in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

Forms: oxorca [romanization]
Etymology: Usually explained as ოხორი (oxori, “house”) + ჯა (ca, “tree”), literally “tree of house” but It's consired as a folk etymology by Arnold Chikobava. Instead he derives it from Laz ოხორი (oxori, “house”) and Georgian რძალი (rʒali, “bride”). He supports his theory with plural of ოხორჯა (oxorca) is ოხორჯალეფე (oxorcalepe) rather than *ოხორჯაფე (*oxorcape). also having -ძ- (-ż-) explains the dialectal variations of the word. Chikobava also substantiates his thesis with other compound nouns made with ოხორი (oxori), declaring "kinship and social status": compare ოხრასქირი (oxraskiri), ოხრასურე (oxrasure) and ოხოჭკურა (oxoç̌ǩura). Note that Georgian რძალი (rʒali, “bride”) is not used in Laz.
