"Turduli" meaning in Latin

Proper name

IPA: [ˈtʊr.dʊ.liː] [Classical-Latin], [ˈtur.du.li] (note: modern Italianate Ecclesiastical)
Etymology: Probably related to Turdētānī, both names being formed from the pre-Roman toponym *Turta, attested as Turta in Cato, with subsequent voicing of *-rt- to *-rd-. According to Villar, Turdulī may be a Latin diminutive of an otherwise unattested *Turdus, corresponding to the indigenous ethnic name recorded by Artemidorus. Alternatively, the name may preserve a pre-Roman *-lo- formation. Villar further connects Turta with the earlier name of Tartessos.
