Suffix

IPA: /ˈmoː.ni.um/ [Classical], [ˈmoːniʊ̃ˑ] [Classical], /ˈmo.ni.um/ (note: modern Italianate Ecclesiastical), [ˈmɔːnium] (note: modern Italianate Ecclesiastical)
Etymology: From Proto-Indo-European *-monyom, from *-mō. Note that, as in Ancient Greek δαιμόνιον (daimónion), the -o- should be short, but, as in Latin the declension of -mō (e.g. sermō) was contaminated by the nominative case and thus made -mōn- instead of -mon-, this derivation was apparently contaminated also. Etymology templates: {{der|la|ine-pro||*-monyom}} Proto-Indo-European *-monyom, {{m|ine-pro|*-mō}} *-mō, {{m|grc|δαιμόνιον}} δαιμόνιον (daimónion), {{m|la|sermō}} sermō Inflection templates: {{la-ndecl|-mōnium<2>}} Forms: -mōnium [canonical, neuter], -mōniī [genitive], -mōnī [genitive], no-table-tags [table-tags], -mōnium [nominative, singular], -mōnia [nominative, plural], -mōniī [genitive, singular], -mōnī [genitive, singular], -mōniōrum [genitive, plural], -mōniō [dative, singular], -mōniīs [dative, plural], -mōnium [accusative, singular], -mōnia [accusative, plural], -mōniō [ablative, singular], -mōniīs [ablative, plural], -mōnium [singular, vocative], -mōnia [plural, vocative]
