Interjection

IPA: /ˈfʌ.kɪnˌeɪ/ [US] Audio: En-au-fucking A.ogg Forms: fuckin' A [alternative], fuckin'-A [alternative], fuck an A [alternative]
Etymology: The first attestation in print is from 1947, in Norman Mailer’s World War II novel The Naked and the Dead, wherein Mailer wrote "’You’re fuggin ay,’ Gallegher snorted.”, but the origin of the term certainly predates said usage; it is probable that Mailer was familiar with an extant phrase. The origin is thought to be a clipped form of fucking affirmative, a US Army phrase from the early twentieth century. Head templates: {{en-interj|head=fucking A}} fucking A
  1. (US, slang, vulgar) An expression of triumph or joy, usually in response to unexpected good news. Upper Midwest usage differs, and is used in a negative respect. Wikipedia link: The Naked and the Dead Tags: US, slang, vulgar
