Just south of the river and parallel with it runs a high mountain range from the west coast to the center of the peninsula, with only one good pass through it, at Souk-Chyon, by which passage is made between Anju and Ping-Yang. These conditions make the line of the Ching-Chong a particularly strong one strategically, and may serve as the first great line of Japanese operations in Corea.",
