Noun

IPA: /sɛxɛm irʔɛf/ (note: modern Egyptological) Forms: s-sxm-x-m-ir:f [canonical, masculine]
Etymology: sḫm (“power, powerful”) + jr (“do, act”) + .f (third-person masculine singular suffix pronoun); the exact interpretation is not altogether clear. Taking sḫm as a noun and jr.f as a modifier, a meaning such as ‘acting power’ is sometimes suggested; this, however, fails to explain the suffix pronoun, which rather suggests an interpretation of jr as a relative form instead of a participle, in which case the sense would be something like ‘the power that he makes’. Alternatively, some have taken sḫm as a participle and jr as a writing of the noun jrw (“visible form”) for an overall sense of ‘powerful of visible form’.
