"θύον" meaning in Ancient Greek

See θύον in All languages combined, or Wiktionary

Noun

IPA: /tʰý.on/, /ˈθy.on/, /ˈθi.on/, /tʰý.on/ (note: 5ᵗʰ BCE Attic), /ˈtʰy.on/ (note: 1ˢᵗ CE Egyptian), /ˈθy.on/ (note: 4ᵗʰ CE Koine), /ˈθy.on/ (note: 10ᵗʰ CE Byzantine), /ˈθi.on/ (note: 15ᵗʰ CE Constantinopolitan)
Etymology: It has been suggested that it is a primary derivative of θύω (thúō, “to smoke”). It is clearly connected to θυία (thuía, “stinking juniper”); however, the relation of these forms is not clear. It does not seem very probable that two distinct trees had nearly identical names.
