Verb [Pacoh]

IPA: [tajɯŋ]
Etymology: From Proto-Katuic *tʄɨŋ, *tjɨŋ (“to stand”). Compare Ngeq taʔjɯŋ, Semai jek, Proto-Palaungic *ɟɤŋ (whence Parauk cung, Riang [Lang] ceŋ²), Proto-Khasian *ʔjəŋ (whence Khasi ïeng, Pnar yeñ), Vietnamese đứng, Santali ᱛᱤᱸᱜᱩ (tĩgu), Bondo tɔŋ-. It is possible that Katuic represents the conservative form of the this Austroasiatic root (something like *t-ʔjVŋ), with other branches like Aslian, Palaungic, Khasian lost the presyllable with dental/alveolar stop, while Vietic and Munda lost the medial palatal. This both resulted in monosyllables, but with either palatal initial or dental/alveolar initial.
