Noun [Minaean]

Forms: ʾnf [romanization]
Etymology: From Proto-Semitic *ʔanp- (“nose”), from the fact how together with a scarp and a ditch in the perceived cross-section the wall looks like a nose. As due to the nature of the corpus detailed anatomical vocabulary is rarified in the Epigraphic South Arabian texts, it cannot be excluded that this was also the actual term for the nose, still perceivable as transferred.
