Verb [Korean]

IPA: [k͈ebéda] [Busan] Forms: kkaebaeda [romanization], 깨배 [infinitive], 깨배어 [infinitive], 깨배니 [sequential]
Etymology: Seems to be from a non-leniting cognate of the Middle Korean hapax ᄀᆞᄫᅡ다 (Yale: koWa-ta, “(transitive) to wake”), presumably from ᄀᆞᆸ다〮 (Yale: kòp-tá, “(intransitive) to wake”). In most dialects, the first syllable was fully contaminated by Standard Central Korean 깨다 (kkaeda), 깨우다 (kkae'uda); in southwestern Jinju and its environs, the presumed original vowel has survived.
