Adverb [Adyghe]

IPA: [bara] Forms: bɛrɛ [romanization]
Etymology: Trubetzkoy, incorrectly citing the Adyghe form as beurə, derives it from Ossetian; compare Digor Ossetian берӕ (beræ), беурӕ (bewræ). On the other hand, Shagirov derives from бэ (bɛ, “much, a lot”) + -рэ (-rɛ, “adverbial suffix”) but remarks that the Iranian (Ossetian) origin of бэ (bɛ) in principle cannot be excluded: the ending -рӕ (-ræ) of the Ossetian word may have been interpreted as the Adyghe adverbial suffix.
