Noun [Coptic]

IPA: /ˈkʲot/ Forms: cot [romanization]
Etymology: From Demotic qd (“substance, character, form”), from Egyptian qdy (“substance, character, form”). This etymology, however, is rejected by Carsten (1999: 108). He argues that a change from masculine to feminine is unlikely, and the fact that "qd" ceased to be used in Demotic in later times.
