Noun [Ancient Greek]

IPA: /tǐː.ty.ros/, /ˈti.ty.ros/, /ˈti.ti.ros/, /tǐː.ty.ros/ (note: 5ᵗʰ BCE Attic), /ˈti.ty.ros/ (note: 1ˢᵗ CE Egyptian), /ˈti.ty.ros/ (note: 4ᵗʰ CE Koine), /ˈti.ty.ros/ (note: 10ᵗʰ CE Byzantine), /ˈti.ti.ros/ (note: 15ᵗʰ CE Constantinopolitan)
Etymology: Furnée compares διθύραμβος (dithúrambos, “dithyramb”), which would contain a variant ot this word, with a suffix -αμβος. Previous proposals include connection with synonymous σάτυρος (sáturos, “satyr”), from Proto-Indo-European *tewh₂- (“to swell”) by Solmsen. This is rejected by Nehring, who considers both words to be loans from Asia Minor. Deroy connects the suffix -τυρος with ταῦρος (taûros, “bull”). According to Beekes, the word is Pre-Greek. "etymology_text": "Furnée compares διθύραμβος (dithúrambos, “dithyramb”), which would contain a variant ot this word, with a suffix -αμβος. According to Beekes, the word is Pre-Greek.",
