Noun [Proto-Georgian-Zan]

Etymology: Participial form of Proto-Kartvelian *šew- ~ *šw- (“to give birth”). In some Old Georgian pieces, შჳლი (šwili) is attested from weakening ვ (v). The Zan forms regularly correspond to Georgian, although the original ვ (v) there is lost and an irregular change k < ḳ has taken place.
