It has been proposed that the first syllable stemmed from a mistaken Sino-Korean reading of the character 加 (ka, “to add; more”) which had originally been intended as a logogram for Korean 더 (te, “more”), and thus that the original, purely native name was 더큰〮골〯 (Tè Khún Kwǒl, literally \"the Bigger Town\"). This is speculative, however.",
